The Japanese celebrate the Bon Festival, also known as "Obon" or "Urabon that it is dedicated to honour the spirits of ancestors. During the Oban festival it is customary for families to visit the grave sites of relatives and clean them. The belief is that the ancestors also visit altars in the homes of their families. There are offerings left at the altars, usually food, such as fruits or vegetables.
